Outreach

I’m interested in engaging with the broader community around science. Here are some projects I’ve been involved with.

At the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) I participated in the Science Communication Fellowship, where I developed my skills as a hands-on activity to engage with the public about my research. I volunteered at OMSI Meet-A-Scientist events.

I also have depicted organism-environment interactions through artwork. The acrylic painting shown below is my representation of annual killifish in their complex, challenging environment. I completed this project at Radius Community Art Studio. I am interested in developing collaborations with artists and scientists to use art to engage with the public about science.

Acrylic painting of juvenile annual killifish spanning details of its habitat and biology. Each panel is 2 x 2 feet. The painting is currently on display in the Biology Department at Portland State University.
A work in progress depicting embryos of the annual killifish encased in dried mud.

I am always looking for new ways to engage with the public around science. Got an idea? Want to collaborate on a project? Get in touch!
